Everything you need to know before riding Ecuador & South America

Why choose Ecuador for a motorcycle adventure?
Ecuador offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes within relatively short distances. Riders can experience the Andes, volcanoes, mountain roads, rural communities, cloud forests and tropical regions during a single motorcycle adventure.
Our routes explore some of the most spectacular destinations in Ecuador and extend across South America, including international expeditions through countries such as Colombia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina depending on the itinerary.
Yes. Several of our Ecuador motorcycle tours combine asphalt with gravel, dirt roads, mountain tracks and off-road sections. Each tour shows its approximate asphalt and off-road percentage.

Due to the dramatic weather changes in the Andes and the high altitude, you should dress in layers:

Protection: Certified helmet, motorcycle jacket, and riding pants with CE-approved armor.

Cold and Wind: Thermal base layers and a lightweight down or fleece jacket.

Rain: Waterproof rain suit or outer layer (100% waterproof).
Hands and Feet: Summer gloves, thermal/waterproof gloves for high-altitude riding, and sturdy motorcycle boots.

Extras: Thermal neck gaiter, UV-protection sunglasses, and a hydration backpack.

Your main luggage will be transported in the support vehicle. On the motorcycle, you only need to carry your daily essentials, such as your camera, rain gear, and documents, in a tank bag or top case.
A valid, unrestricted motorcycle license from your country of origin, along with an International Driving Permit if you are a foreign visitor, and your original passport.
Intermediate to advanced. The Andean routes include many tight mountain curves, high-altitude sections, and occasional fog, so you should feel comfortable controlling a motorcycle on winding roads.
Riders must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of two years of previous riding experience. Passengers must be at least 12 to 16 years old and be able to place their feet firmly on the rear footpegs.
Our motorcycles are Adventure / Dual-Sport models from well-known brands and undergo rigorous preventive maintenance before every departure. They are equipped with engine guards, handguards, and luggage cases.
All motorcycles are covered by mandatory insurance. At the beginning of the tour, a temporary hold is placed on your credit card as a security deposit. The hold is fully released if the motorcycle is returned without damage.
The guide or support vehicle carries tools and quick-repair kits to handle minor issues on the road. In the event of a major mechanical problem, motorcycle recovery or replacement logistics will be arranged.

We will ride through Andean sections at elevations above 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. The itinerary is designed to allow for gradual acclimatization. Stay well hydrated and avoid heavy meals during the first few nights.
